PORTUGAL’S PRIME Minister José Sócrates made a surprise visit to the Algarve at the weekend to show his support for the re-development and restructuring of the EN125 road that crosses the region.

José Sócrates accompanied Public Works Minister Mário Lino, who announced the 150 million euro project, due to be completed by 2010 and with the main aim of cutting road deaths by 35 per cent.
