Work to renovate Monte Gordo’s beachfront, turning it into a car-free area, is expected to start before the end of the year.
It is hoped that the area will become more user-friendly for visitors and residents alike and that the construction of an underground car park, with a capacity for 1,000 vehicles, will meet the needs of drivers.
The beachfront will also have allocated areas for entertainment and commerce.
Other projects in the pipeline include the construction of two five star hotels to be built in the current campsite area and a new campsite location.
The work, which represents an investment of 40 million euros, will be put out to tender next month.
