British resident and professional nurse Barbara Deacon founded Algarve Angels five years ago to provide a complete nursing service across the region in the comfort of clients’ own homes.
Following a long career in nursing, including working at the British Hospital in Lisbon and Hospital Particular in Alvor, Barbara set up Algarve Angels to cater for the growing needs of patients in the region.
“Algarve Angels offers a complete 24 hour nursing service in the comfort of the client’s own home, providing a high standard of care, tailored to meet individual needs,” she said. “Our team of 15 multilingual qualified nurses and carers look after many clients who are on holiday in the region.”
From basic hygiene to caring for tetraplegic clients, Algarve Angels aims to provide quality nursing solutions for all, including those who have just come out of hospital following surgical intervention or who have been hospitalised for a medical condition.
Algarve Angels undertakes dressings, injections, assists with rehabilitation and stoma care, as well as looking after the elderly, the disabled and providing respite for carers.
“Our philosophy is to provide a value for money solution, combined with a confidential and professional service,” said Barbara.
Algarve Angels also look after BUPA, IMG and Exeter health insurance clients. All the work is invoiced and receipted, with the initial assessment anywhere in the Algarve being free and always undertaken by a qualified nurse, usually Barbara herself.
