Vale do Lobo will be introducing the talented musicians of the classical quartet Class’ic during a unique concert on October 17 from 8pm.
Held in association with the cultural association Ideias do Levante, the concert features performances of works from Chapi, Puccini, Léhar, Gershwin, Verdi, Piazzola and Strauss.
The Class’ic group features soprano Carla Pontes, who will be joined by Uta Kerner on violin, Sunita Mamtani on cello and Cristiana Silva on piano for a performance featuring classic pieces from their wide repertoire.
Carla Pontes was born in Lisbon and began her musical studies under the instruction of Birgit Wegemann in 2004. She has attended several workshops, courses, seminars, private lessons and master classes across Portugal including the International Vocal Music Course in Aveiro.
She is joined on stage by German-born violinist Uta Kerner, who has played violin since the age of five and has since gone on to play with the Radio Orchestra Munich and the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Seville.
Sunita Mamtani takes to the stage on the cello. She was co-founder of the Piano Trio Suc, which was awarded second prize in the first Theodor-Rogler-Chamber Music Competition. She is currently a professor at the music academy in Lagos and has performed across Portugal, Spain, Austria and Germany.
Cristiana Silva on piano completes the quartet. She began her musical studies in 1995 at the Joly Braga Santos Conservatory in Portimão where she completed a basic course in piano and violin and has since won prizes at various piano competitions throughout Portugal.
The talented group, who formed thanks to their mutual passion for music, will be showing the versatility of classical music during this concert designed for all music lovers.
