The current law on employment quotas for people with disabilitieshas been in force since February, and already “more and more companies are hiring workers with some degree of disability”, reports SIC Notícias today. The law as it stands requires businesses with more than 100 workers to employ a certain number with a disability. From next year, this requirement passes to businesses with more than 75 workers – the idea being to guarantee inclusion and equal opportunities. Any business found not to be complying with this law faces fines ranging from €600 to €10,000. Checks are carried out by the authority for labour conditions.
