Communal Passover with Jewish community

The Jewish Community of the Algarve will be celebrating the First Night of the eight-day Passover festival with a communal dinner on Wednesday, April 8.

The Reading of the Hagada, which is the story of slavery suffered under the Pharaohs in Egypt around 3,000 years ago, and the subsequent Exodus of the Israelites from slavery, is related in response to four questions posed by the youngest present at the dinner.

This is the way that the story has been passed down the generations and is followed by a meal at which special foods, commemorating the hardships of slavery, are eaten.
