While still awaiting official confirmation of new managerial appointment Vitor Oliveira, Portimonense have been busy reshuffling their squad for the coming season.
The defence and midfield have been strengthened by the arrival of ex-Varzim trio Wilson Manafá, Pedro Sá and Stanley as well as Farense’s Paulinho. All four players aged between 21 and 25 were regulars for their former clubs and should make the 2016/17 starting 11.
In attack, the return of Simy (pictured), who has spent the last three years with Gil Vicente and topped the second division scoring charts on 20 goals this season, should make a significant difference, together with promising Brazilian forward Bruno Tabata.
The Algarveans are still on the lookout for a left back and a right winger, as Mamadu is not expected to stay, and out-of-contract André Carvalhas closing in on a move to Famalicão.
Furthermore, on-loan Fidelis Irhene will return to Porto while Erick, Chace, Ferreira and André Ferreira are all deemed surplus to requirements. There are also unlikely to be places for loan returnees Joabson and Alfredo who are expected to find new clubs.
