Colombian pilgrim to return home without feet

A Columbian pilgrim who travelled to Portugal at the end of June for a pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine of Fátima will be returning home without her feet. Luz Contreras, described as in her 60s, “contracted a bacteria in Lisbon”, reportedly entering the private Hospital da Luz already with septicemia. She was transferred in a coma to the State system, from which she emerged six days later with necrosis in her hands and feet. Her feet were amputated at the beginning of the month. Her hands, say reports,  “remain under observation”. The woman’s family is said to be awaiting her repatriation.
