Coastal study centres

FIVE REGIONAL administrations, including one for the Algarve, will be set up to study coastal erosion and tidal patterns.

Minister for the Environment, Nunes Correia, said the annual erosion of beaches across the Algarve is one of the main reasons to install one in the region.

It will be managed and controlled by the national government, as tidal patterns need to be viewed as a problem for the whole of the Portuguese coast. The government promised the administrations would be up and running by the end of the year.
