Praia da Falésia

Coastal run promises beautiful views of Praia da Falésia

There will be a 6km route and a 12km route to choose from

A cliffside run exploring the beautiful coast of Albufeira will be held on March 12 at 10.30am.

The ‘AP Victoria Falésia Run’ will feature two routes (6km and 12km) to choose from, both of which will showcase the stunning sights of the famous Falésia beach in Albufeira.

Both routes will begin and end at the Hotel AP Victoria Sports & Beach in Albufeira.

Organisers describe the run as an eco-event with an “unprecedented characteristic” in Portugal: the bibs (with the numbers identifying each athlete) are made out of seed paper, an eco-friendly type of paper made with seeds which can be planted after it is used.

Registration costs €1 per person, with proceeds going to the local Santa Casa da Misericórdia institution. The fee includes a kit with a bib, t-shirt and several gifts and discounts from the event’s sponsors.

Albufeira Mayor José Carlos Rolo says he is “very happy about another sports event being organised” in Albufeira, this time with “environmental and social concerns.” Rolo is also inviting everyone to participate, be it alone, with friends or family.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Cristiano Cabrita highlights the municipality’s “vocation to organise and host outdoor sports events all year round.”

The event is organised by the AP Hotels & Resorts Group and Albufeira Council with the support of the Algarve Athletics Association, Clube Areias Desportivo de São João, Inframoura and Vilamoura World.

Registrations are open online, with prices ranging between €7 (until February 28) and €8 for the 6km route and €12 (until February 28) and €15 for the 12km route. The fee includes a kit with a bib, t-shirt and several gifts and discounts from the event’s sponsors.

Organisers will donate €1 of each registration to the local Santa Casa da Misericórdia institution.
