A coastal hike that aims to raise awareness about climate change and the need to protect the environment will be held on Sunday, June 2 along Lagoa’s Seven Hanging Valleys Trail (Sete Vales Suspensos), which was recently named the ‘best hiking destination in Europe’ by online portal European Best Destinations.
Entitled ‘Climate Change Trekking’, the initiative is organised by several hotels and resorts – Hotel BeLive Family Palmeiras Village, Monte Santo Resort, Tivoli Carvoeiro, Hotéis Pestana, Agua Hotels Riverside, Hotel Baía Cristal and Colina Vale da Lapa.
Signing up costs €10 (before May 30) or €15 (after May 30) with all proceeds going towards environmental association Quercus. The cost includes a t-shirt and an aluminium water bottle.
The 7km walk will begin at 8.30am at Praia da Marinha and will feature a clean-up initiative at the end of the trail.
