Clube Naval de Portimão, the town’s nautical sports club, has won the national team spearfishing title following the last two stages of the national circuit in Peniche.
Current world champion Jody Lot was the leading contributor to the team’s success, having also won the individual national spearfishing title. Matthias Sandeck, another member of the ‘all-star’ team, finished second.
Humberto Silva also played a big role in the team’s success, finishing 5th in the individual rankings.
All three athletes have been selected for the national team, which will be competing in the Euro-African Spearfishing Championship, to be held in September in Denmark.
