Dear Editor,
I fail to see the connection between Albufeira flooding, toxic bivalves and climate change (Algarve Resident, December 3 edition).
Albufeira is a seaside town completely disconnected from the surrounding environment and built upon shoddy planning.
Contaminated bivalves reared and grown along the Algarve coast were exposed to foreign viruses and as such deemed unfit for human consumption.
Portugal’s failures lie with an unstable political leadership along with apathetic elected officials; so blaming all the country’s shortfalls on the climate seems a COP out to me.
