Cleaning up Portugal

For the second consecutive year, the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António participated in the Limpar Portugal (Clean up Portugal) project.

On March 20, around 70 volunteers participated in the civic movement, which aims to promote environmental education and to educate on the correct methods of disposing of waste and sustainable growth, through the voluntary participation of citizens and private and public entities.

The project was conducted in two areas, the western area of the Monte Gordo forest and the Ria de Cacela Velha.

Some three-and-a-half tonnes of rubbish was collected during the operation.
