Cleaning the nest

VOLUNTEERS ARE needed to help prepare the breeding grounds for Lesser Kestrels at Campo Grande, near Castro Verde.

The operation is being organised by Liga para a Protecção da Natureza (LPN), which is one of the private groups involved in  environmental preservation in Portugal.

At their centre for environmental education at Vale Gonçalinho, Castro Verde, between Alentejo and the Algarve, they promote all types of events to inform the local community and visitors.

The cleaning events to prepare for the return of the Lesser Kestrel are scheduled for February 16 and 23.

To participate, volunteers should apply before February 9 and February 16 respectively. The cleaning sessions will be from 10am until 5pm and will  aim to help the birds find the better spots for their nests and future families.
