EUROPE’S LARGEST wind farm, representing an investment of 360 million euros, was due to be inaugurated on Wednesday in Alto Minho in the north of Portugal.

A total of 120 wind turbines, predicted to produce 530 gigawatts/hour of energy, have been erected at the farm.

During construction, the plans of the wind farm had to be changed in order to protect three wolf dens that were found in the area.

The location of a number of wind turbines and energy transport cables were moved away from areas where wolves are active.
