Classical music concert at “quintinha”

International musicians Inge Lulofs (piano) and Carola Ligt (flute) will be playing music by Bach, Poulenc, Ravel and Prokoviev on Sunday, May 10, at Quintinha da Música in Tavira at 5pm.

Inge Lulofs plays piano and celesta with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, and is the accompanist for all auditions. She holds a Performance Diploma (1985) from the Conservatory in Enschede, The Netherlands, and has formed part of the Valerius Ensemble since its founding in 1988.

This Ensemble consists mainly of musicians from the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly with national and international soloists. The CDs and DVDs recorded by the Ensemble include works by Paul Hindemith, Max Reger, Leo Samama and Raimundo Pena Forte.

Inge performs regularly as an accompanist of instrumentalists, vocalists and choirs. Her concert tours have included Russia, South Korea, the United States, Germany, Portugal and Spain. She teaches piano at the music school in Nordhorn (Germany), and has her own studio in Enschede for private piano instruction.

Carola Ligt studied with Raymond Delnoye at the Tilburg Conservatory of Music. She graduated ‘cum laude’ as a teaching musician, performing musician and had a special recommendation in chamber music.

Afterwards she studied with Gaby van Riet and joined masterclasses with Gaby van Riet, Trevor Wye, Peter-Lukas Graf, Emile Biessen and Johan Rijcken. Carola won first prize in the Dutch National Flute Competition in 1985 and in 1986 received the Buma Trophy for the best performance of a Dutch composition.

She played flute in several orchestras, including the Dutch Student Chamber Music Orchestra, the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra and has performed as soloist with the L’Orchestre International de Flandre.

In 1996, she was appointed principal flute in the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, and now appears with several chamber music ensembles, among them The Valerius Ensemble.

Carola is professor of flute at the Dutch “ArtEZ Institute of the Arts” (Conservatory of Music) in Enschede en Zwolle and has given masterclasses in Brazil, Belgium, Poland as well as The Netherlands.
