news: Classic cars on the course

Golf carts will make way for vehicles with a slightly more distinguished pedigree on the fairways of Vale do Lobo’s Ocean Golf Course on September 19, with the return of the much loved Vale do Lobo Classics Vintage Car competition. In all, 65 proud owners, from all over the country, will gather their beautiful classic cars at Vale do Lobo, bringing with them a taste of years gone by. The history of the motor vehicle, from the turn of the century to the stream lined sports cars of the 1980s, is catalogued by these amazing machines. Visitors to Vale do Lobo will be able to get a close look at all the cars after a 37.5 km parade, starting at 11.30am from the resort, through towns and villages in the area, to the centre of Loulé and back to Vale do Lobo.

At 3.30pm, 15 of the cars will assemble at the 10th hole of the Ocean Golf Course behind the Vale do Lobo Golf Academy, where a competition for the most beautifully restored vehicle will take place. Many legendary makes, including Rolls Royce, Bentley, Buick, Cadillac, BMW, Jaguar and Ferrari, will be among the cars taking part. The owners will be present to chat with visitors and discuss the dedication that goes into the hobby of keeping classic cars. Entrance is free and open to all, so don’t miss out!
