THE EASTERN Algarve town of Castro Marim will be holding the third edition of its popular snail festival (III Festa do Caracol) from May 27 to 29, at the Parque Infantil de Castro Marim.
Open from 7pm each evening, lovers of this regional delicacy will be able to savour the very best, local snails – big and small, served with secret seasoning or according to a traditional recipe.
Portuguese music will also be an ‘ingredient’ with entertainment programmed for every evening. Performances will be by Grupo de Baile Sons do Sul, Grupo Etnográfico de Quelfes and Quim Gouveia on May 27, by Grupo Dimensão 2, Rancho Folclórico do Azinhal and Cláudia Isabel on May 28, and finally, on the last evening, entertainment will be provided by Grupo Gomape Music, Ballet Espanhol de Gracia Diaz and Teresa Viola.
Hundreds of snail lovers are expected to attend the festival that is once again organised by Castro Marim Câmara with the support of local restaurants. Bon appétit!
