Claiming back luxury status

I refer to Christine Brier’s letter, published in The Resident on April 2, challenging Vale do Garrão’s right to be described as ‘a luxury development’. As a fellow owner, I understand her obvious frustration. Vale do Garrão is not looking its best, nor has it been for some time.

What Ms. Brier neglects to mention, however, is the massive investment programme currently being undertaken. On completion, scheduled for the end of May of this year, Vale do Garrão will apparently boast some of the finest leisure facilities in the Algarve to add to the two high quality hotels and conference centre which already exist.

While development on this scale causes disruption and inconvenience over an extended period of time, the prospect of having such superb amenities at the heart of the community must surely enhance Vale do Garrão’s claimed status as a luxury development.

In my view, the initiatives taken are to be commended and can only be to the benefit of existing owners. I await the unveiling of the new facilities with eager anticipation.
