A number of legal firms are this week putting together civil suits to try and block the Bank of Portugal’s controversial BES/Novo Banco carve-up.
Working for shareholders prejudiced in the good bank/bad bank deal, the firms are also understood to be targeting Bank of Portugal chief Carlos Costa and President Cavaco Silva – both of whom they feel have failed to safeguard the legal rights of shareholders.
