The government and Zmar eco-resort near Odemira have reached agreement over the temporary use of accommodation for immigrants who need to remain in isolation due to the pandemic. As a result, the ‘civil requisition’ has been lifted, and Zmar will receive €100 per day per chalet ceded for use. In all, 34 chalets are being used. The agreement is retrospective, going back to the first day of the civil requisition (click here). Nuno da Silva Vieira, the lawyer representing Zmar property owners, has told Sábado the government is actually paying €30 more than the site would normally charge guests. “It’s the highest price ever paid”, he said. The agreement was apparently signed at 11.30pm last night.
