Portimão has launched a new “civil protection hotline” (808 282 112) to help people obtain information about “weather and health warnings” and report potentially hazardous situations.
Entitled ‘Proteção 24’, it is available round-the-clock at a cost of 0.7 cents for the first minute and a “lower charge” during the remainder of the call.
For serious emergencies, however, people are advised to use the national 112 emergency number.
