Circus saga

Dear Editor,

I wanted to say that, for many years, I worked as a Vet Nurse locally, and whenever the circus came to town, I can tell you that, at the first sign of sickness (of a circus animal), one of our vets would be called in or, in several cases, the smaller animals would be brought to our clinic, even a dear little pony once. On one occasion, one of our vets was called in to see one of the huge brown bears…very brave of her I thought! The bear made a complete recovery.

I just felt I should confirm that the circus animals’ welfare is priority, not only are they a large investment for the circus but they are indeed “family”.
