Churchill update

After 10 shows over one week, involving a substantial cast and crew and sell out performances, the Algarve World Premiere of Churchill – The Musical has been deemed a success by organisers who now plan to take the production to the UK.

Derek Ash, one of the writers of the show, told the Algarve Resident: “The whole production was brilliant and we have had amazing feedback from everyone who went to watch the show in Lagoa. One Portuguese person even came to watch the musical four times!”

He added: “Churchill – The Musical proved to be not only entertaining but also educational, with schoolchildren watching the show and learning history at the same time.”

Two new songs are now being written for the musical, the Rationing Song and The Day Our Dreams Came True, a song about VE Day.

“Both songs are more up tempo and will have dance routines and we hope that they can be featured in the show if we are able to obtain funding to take it over to Chelmsford in the UK, “ said Derek.

“We would like to thank all our sponsors, supporters, local cast and members of the audience for helping to make it a brilliant production.”
