Church split

LEADERS OF the traditional Anglican church in North America are expected to announce this week that they are to set up a new church in the US and Canada.

The split comes after traditionalists left the American church in droves after the church’s liberal stance on homosexuality.

It means that there will now be two churches competing for allegiance to the Anglican Communion in the US.

The new church has looked to African churches for leadership but doubts have been raised as to how it will be recognised by the wider Anglican Communion.
