Church renovation

The roof and walls of Igreja da Misericórdia in Faro are to be restored under a protocol signed with the government that will enable it to reopen to the public.

The works, budgeted at €100,000, will allow the church to possibly resume its activities at Easter in 2012.

According to the Secretary of State for Local Government, José Junqueiro, “it is very important to preserve the religious heritage of our country. The Government has already this year responded to around 70 applications for intervention work on monuments of this kind across the country.”
