Church closes

Portimão Church (Igreja Matriz) will be closed for repair works to the roof and altar in the summer.

The roof leaks, with water infiltrations damaging the building, and the wooden structures on the altar are crumbling.

Work will include the replacement of the roof, fixing the affected walls and altar, which has been targeted by wood insects. The work, expected to cost 500,000 euros, also includes the replacement of electrical systems and will begin in June to last three to four months.
