Skating in a huge ice rink, exploring stalls selling regional products, visiting Santa’s grotto or enjoying several live shows will be some of the main attractions of this year’s Christmas village called ‘Alegria do Natal’ which will open in Silves on Friday (December 6).
The event is held every year at the town’s main Al-Mutamid square.
For older visitors, it is the perfect opportunity to stock up on Christmas presents while for younger generations there is no shortage of fun-filled activities to enjoy.
As usual, visitors will be able to take an instant Polaroid-type picture to take home with them and “later remember the experience”.
This year, the event is also being extended to Armação de Pêra and São Bartolomeu de Messines which will host several festive activities at their local markets every Saturday (December 7, 14 and 21) until Christmas.
The Christmas village in Silves will be open every day between 2pm and 8pm until January 6, closing only on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
