Loulé Câmara will be distributing Christmas hampers this month to families in need in the council.
A spokesman for the Câmara said: “The food supplies will provide a more dignified Christmas night to these families. Some 2,000 hampers will be delivered to households in the 11 parishes of the municipality.”
Each basket contains cod, olive oil, cheese, milk, beans, bolo rei, among other items.
Loulé council has been promoting this initiative for a number of the years and says that this year, in a time of “aggravated crisis”, it will cover more low income households than ever before.
