Loulé Câmara organised a large street party to celebrate the switching-on of the Christmas lights in the city on December 1.
This year’s budget for Christmas street lighting was “three times smaller” than last year, said Loulé Câmara.
However, it did not want to go without the traditional celebrations that “bring joy to the people and are a boost for business”.
Santa Claus also made an appearance on the day, with thousands of children eager to see “the old man with the white beard” and collect an early Christmas gift.
