Friday (December 3) marks the start of Albufeira’s Christmas festivities which will include “giant decorations, a market selling seasonal products, an ice rink, Santa’s House, a Christmas train and a lot of entertainment” in the old town.
The festivities will continue every day until January 6 (except for Christmas Day), giving residents and visitors more than a month to be delighted by the town’s Christmas lights and decorations.
Those shopping for Christmas gifts should look no further than the town’s Christmas fair (Mercadinho), which will be selling everything from handicraft to traditional sweets and delicacies.
Albufeira’s ice rink will also be making a return, as well as the popular Santa’s House where children will be able to deliver their Christmas letters and take a photo with the white-bearded gift-bearer.
Last but not least, a Christmas train will be travelling Albufeira’s old town, allowing anyone to hop on for free and enjoy a ride.
The town’s Christmas festivities will take place between 5pm and 9pm on weekdays and between 10am and 9pm on weekends and holidays.
