THE VILLAGE of Cortelha, near Salir, Loulé will begin its Christmas celebrations tomorrow (Saturday, December 16) with a party for children and the elderly at 5pm, organised by the Associação dos Amigos da Cortelha, the friends of Cortelha association in its function room.
Children from Cortelha primary school and the local Grupo de Catequese will be singing Christmas carols and providing festive music and there will also be a humorous theatre production entitled Fabrico do Pão, the making of bread. Father Christmas will also be in attendance to give all the children a little gift.
As in previous years, the event is also the occasion chosen for the unveiling of the village’s nativity scene, which is made from traditional materials from the Serra do Caldeirão. The model will be on display until January 6.
