Choirs groups from all over will be taking part in the Lagoa Choir Week, which will be held for the 21th time by Lagoa-based association Ideias do Levante and the local council between Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 19.
There will be concerts, singing workshops, open rehearsals and much more to enjoy.
The 2019 edition will feature the following talented groups: Coral Bella a Cappella (Moncarapacho), Coral Luísa Todi (Setúbal), Coral Feminino Outras Vozes (Faro), Coro do Sol (Portimão) and Coral Ideias do Levante (Lagoa).
As the organising association points out, “each year, for one week, singing sweeps through Lagoa, and voices from all places unite in a harmonious celebration of melodies and emotions.”
The Lagoa Choir Week is the brainchild of José Carlos Bago d’Uva, who describes the event as “a time when Lagoa sings in four voices the enchantment of vocal polyphony across the lands of the Levante.”
The opening concert with Bella a Cappellaand Coral Ideias do Levante will be held at the São José convent in Lagoa on Saturday, May 11 at 4.30pm.
Singing workshops (open to all) and masterclasses will be held at Lagoa’s CEFLA centre througout the day on Sunday, May 12, while an open rehearsal led by Vera Batista will take place at the Centro de Congressos do Arade in Parchal at 8pm on Wednesday, May 15.
The closing concert featuring Coral Luísa Todi, Coral Feminino Outras Vozes, Coro do Sol and Coral Ideias do Levante will be held on Sunday, May 19, at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa at 4.30pm.
