The chip crisis (click here) saw the production of cars in Portugal fall by 29.5% in June compared to figures for May. ACAP the Portuguese automobile association said the drop in output is even more accentuated (by 43.6%) if one looks at pre-pandemic production for June 2019. When it comes to the assembly of HGV vehicles, figures are even worse – only 18 were assembled in June 2021, a fall of 83.6% compared to figures for the same period in 2020.
