Hardworking Chinese living in Portugal sent home an average of €5,000 each last year – with a grand total crossing the seas to Peking of €80 million. This is more, per head, than the money sent home by Brazilians. There is currently a lot less Chinese living in Portugal than there are Brazilians, but this is all set to change as President of the Republic Cavaco Silva sets out this week on a state visit to woo yet more Chinese business.
