Chinese investors are still interested in Portugal’s property market despite the recent cases of corruption linked to the country’s Golden Visa scheme.
The guarantee came from Luís Lima, president of the national real estate professionals’ association APEMIP, who returned on Tuesday (March 24) from a four-day property show in Shanghai, China, that featured a number of Portuguese real estate companies.
“There may have been a retraction, which is normal considering the media impact the scandal had, but the decrease in demand is due mostly to the time of year,” Lima said.
“Those who work with the Chinese market know that the months prior to Chinese New Year, namely January and February, are months in which the Chinese avoid doing business,” he added.
