The ‘crisis’ created by Nancy Pelosi’s visit this week to Taiwan has left Portugal between a rock and a hard place. What is Portugal’s official reaction? Expresso explains “the foreign affairs ministry has not answered our questions”. One thing is clear however: Portugal has in the not so distant past said it “supports the Chinese position in relation to Taiwan” – and the Chinese embassy in Lisbon has not forgotten this.
