China’s global strategic relations with Portugal are considered of great importance by the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi.
His Portuguese counterpart, Paulo Portas, who is on an official visit to Beijing until July 8, was praised by Yang Jiechi for his “political experience” and described his visit to China as an example of the importance Portugal gives to its Portuguese-Chinese relations.
China’s foreign affairs minister also praised the efforts being made by the Portuguese government to reform its economy. “We wish Portugal every success with its reforms,” said Yang Jiechi.
The meeting between the two ministers marked the beginning of an official programme in China by Paulo Portas, the first minister from the current government to visit China.
