The municipal library is organising a special event for youngsters aged 6 to 12 on Saturday April 22.
On Saturday, April 22, the Municipal Library of Silves is organising “Music for Children and Young People”, an initiative free of admission promoted by Tiago Pires, aimed at children and young people between the ages of 6 and 12.
Providing children and young people contact with different types of music and rhythms from various cultures is the main objective of the municipality, which dedicates this event to traditional Portuguese, Arabic, African and Brazilian music.
During each session, participants will discover melodies and rhythms originating in these countries. They will also accompany simple rhythms using various percussion instruments that will be made available.
The sessions will feature two permanent instruments – the marimba (Tiago Pires) and the transverse flute (Elsa Marques) – supporting the entire rhythmic base.
Each session will last approximately 60 minutes and is limited to 15 children and young people (accompanied by an adult).
» 10:00 for children from 6 to 9 years old
» 11:00 for young people from 10 to 12 years old
Admission is free. However, participation is subject to prior registration until April 20.
To register and ask for further information, contact the Municipal Library of Silves via telephone (282 440 899) or email ([email protected]).
