CAR SAFETY seats for children under 12 years of age should attract a cut in VAT from 21 to five per cent, says the Portuguese Association for the Promotion of Child Safety (APSI).
The organisation asked for the reduction last April but is still waiting for a reply from the government. At the end of a special meeting held on Tuesday in Lisbon, APSI emphasised that “the safety systems for child transportation in cars are a necessity and should be rated as that”. The association also asks for parents to be allowed to declare the cost in the annual IRS (VAT) assessment.
