A 7-year-old girl was murdered in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Vialongo, Vila Franca de Xira. According to reports, the child’s throat was slit by her grandfather, “suffering from depression”. The grandfather is understood to have attempted suicide afterwards. He is now in hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Initial charges are to include murder; whether or not the man is fit to plea is to be decided later.
