Alcantarilha’s only chemist, Farmácia Prudêncio Jr. is due to close its doors and move to Armação de Pêra.
Alcantarilha parish council president João Palma said: “Our parish has around 3,000 inhabitants, mostly elderly, to whom this chemist is very useful.”
João Palma is now contacting Infarmed, the national pharmacy and medicines authority, and Silves Câmara about the situation.
A spokesman for the chemist told the Algarve Resident that the owner is not making any statements to the press.
