Portugal’s 3rd political force, right-wing CHEGA, is focused on Constitutional reform in “a world in which saying the obvious very often becomes the basis for a crime, and reason for persecution”. Speaking in Setúbal over the weekend, party leader André Ventura said it’s time for Constitutional reform; for a change in the way the country deals with events and practices that were simply not relevant in the era when the Constitution was formulated. His party will continue to push for chemical castration and life terms for pedophiles, he vowed. Setúbal is a district that has recently seen various violent outbreaks, including the stabbing to death of a barman for trying to protect women from being sexually harassed.
