Portugal’s third political force CHEGA has lodged a ‘providência cautelar’ (embargo) against the Portuguese State to try and stop the sale of ‘flagship airline’ TAP. Party leader André Ventura explains the move is to guarantee that Portuguese citizens get all the information on this process which has thrown up many grey areas. In the ‘early days’ of the ‘State aid’ (of €3.2 billion) the government insisted TAP would be repaying ‘a loan’. Last week, TAP’s CFO (chief finance officer) said the money was not a loan, but a ‘recapitalisation’, and as such would not be repaid.
