CHEGA calls for resignation of health minister

CHEGA is said to be preparing to call for the resignation of health minister Marta Temido as news channels report that many of the ‘constraints’ suffered by obstetric units up and down the country are ‘returning to normality’ today. This is nonetheless simplifying the situation: hospitals continue to struggle with chronic staff shortages. In Guarda, for example, a lack of doctors has affected the VMER emergency response vehicles, which have been ‘out of service’ for seven days out of 20 so far this month. CHEGA’s call to prime minister António Costa to dismiss Ms Temido is unlikely to be successful. Mr Costa has insisted he has every faith in the health minister’s abilities.
