Charity Spinathon raises €20,000

A charity Spinathon on January 27 at the Four Seasons Country Club (FSCC) in Quinta da Lago raised €20,000 in aid of ACCA, an association helping children in need in the Algarve.

More than 35 cyclists took part in the 25-hour Spinathon that was held as part of the FSCC silver jubilee celebrations.

Five groups comprising the FSCC team, the ACCA team, the Active Q Gym team, the Quinta Verde Gym team and the São Lourenço International School Mums team, all cycled for five hours each throughout the event.

Ian Pugsley, FSCC general manager, said: “The Spinathon event has really shown the spirit of the local community. Such amazing support was received from friends and family cycling their hearts out for charity, even through the wee hours of the night.”

He said that special thanks goes out to all of the participants and local sponsors for their support in helping ACCA continue their charitable endeavors across the Algarve.

Wanda Crawford from ACCA told the Algarve Resident: “The event has been such a great experience, the team at FSCC really made it as fun filled as possible.

“I was amazed to see how wiling everyone was to pitch in, ensuring to secure a phenomenal success. ACCA are truly grateful.”
