Charity show raises over 2,000 euros

TWO PERFORMANCES of ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Church’ held recently raised a total of 2,250 euros and more donations have been promised as a result of the show.

The International Christian Fellowship of Portimão (ICF) would like to thank all the people who volunteered their services to perform and help out in the myriad different ways, producing such an excellent result. Special thanks go to Lagos Câmara, which offered the Lagos Cultural Centre at no charge.

Thursday’s show may have been performed with a few glitches, but Friday’s one ran smoothly and played to a full and appreciative audience. Nobody was in a rush to leave after the show, and many stayed to mingle and talk in the friendly atmosphere that had been created.

The different performers kept everybody highly entertained and proved how much talent the Algarve has to offer. Many of the artists were from different English-speaking churches, while others were just good people who wanted to help raise money for the five charities that will benefit: O Lar das Crianças Bom Samaritano (Alvor), Tear Fund International, The Leprosy Mission Portugal, Resposta Portugal and O Castelo dos Sonhos (Silves).

Now that people are aware of the fun that these performances can be, we can only hope that more of them will be held. If you would like further information about ICF and its fund-raising work, please call Pastor David on 282 461 985. Contributed
