Local charity Helping Hands in The Algarve (HHA) has recently funded a visit by eight children and accompanying staff from Casa da Primeira Infância in Loulé to an adventure centre, Parque Aventura, near Albufeira.
For some years, HHA has been supporting the children’s home in a variety of ways.
“Initially, all the children found the high ropes courses quite testing as the challenges included bridges, rope nets and zip lines leading from tree to tree. But all the children gained confidence and experienced a sense of accomplishment,” said the charity, adding that the children also enjoyed a snack lunch provided by HHA.
“This was the first time that Helping Hands tried this activity with the children from Casa da Primeira Infância de Loulé and it proved to be a resounding success, one which will hopefully be repeated at a future date.”
HHA has also continued to support a variety of other causes including the Bombeiros (firefighters), riding lessons for young adults with cerebral palsy, food donations to Casa do Povo in Estoi and support for children and adults with visual difficulties, for example by providing glasses.
The next fundraising event will be a Fun Quiz Night on Tuesday, May 14 at the old Freguesia office on Rua Dr Silva Nobre, opposite the east end of the Municipal Market in São Brás de Alportel, at 7.45pm.
