Charity golf success

A golf tournament held at the Pestana Vale da Pinta golf course near Lagoa raised a total of 2,666 euros for the All Saints Anglican Church in the Algarve on May 1.

One of the organisers of the event, Maurice Walton, told the Algarve Resident: “A total of 75 people took part in the Better Ball Stableford competition, which raised money for our Church Construction Fund.”

The tournament was won by Ian and Shona Callaghan with 42 points, who walked away with two prizes: a weekend away at the Elliot hotel in Gibraltar and a weekend break at the Hotel Garbe in Armação de Pêra. Lindsey Orr and Jo Pernas each won a sports massage as second prize while Linda and Paul Anthony came in third place, winning an aromatherapy massage.

“The tournament was a great success. We are very grateful to Pestana for allowing us to play on the course and have booked the event for next year,” said Maurice.
